The Royal Mint's Royalty Commemorative Coins
The United Kingdom's Royal Mint has a long history of celebrating the monarchy, but the first commemorative coin to be minted to celebrate a specific royal occasion was in honor of King George V Silver Jubilee in 1935. Since then, there have been many royal commemorative coins struck, including one to celebrate the wedding of Prince William's parents Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.
